Rather Good Guide® for Comparing Certain ESC with the QC-3328 and Xoar 14x5" Prop

This report describes the results we obtained from testing several different electronic speed controls (ESC) with the  motor, a QC-3328, and propeller (Xoar 14x5"). We were just curious what the differences might be between a Freefly ESC, a KDE Direct KDEXF-UAS55, a Maytech 50A Opto with SimonK firmware, a Castle Creations Phoenix Edge HV60, and a Tiger Motors 80A 400Hz.

This report describes the results we got when we measured the overall performance, the efficiency in grams of Net Thrust per Watt of electrical power, and the Sensitivity of the motor -- just how quickly could the ESC change the RPM of the motor/prop up and down 1 RPM when we changed the Absolute Throttle up and down 1%? That's a good measure of how stable a copter would be as the motors and props try to respond to commands from the flight controller.

We had hoped to test the new Mikrokopter BL-Ctrl v3.0, but they only respond to PPM or I2C commands and we're waiting to hear what the optimal PPM "standard" for the BL-Ctrl is. We'll update the report as soon as we can once we get the information from Mikrokopter.

Why start with the QC-3328? It's a good workhorse motor and we wanted to take baby-steps with our testing protocol and post-processing analysis. Onwards to other motors now!
